Abstract


PROFESSIONAL MOTIVATION IN HEALTH EDUCATION STUDENTS: A STUDY IN TERMS OF FACTORS AFFECTING INTERNAL MOTIVATION

The study aims to determine the effects of external factors and factors that create negativity on the internal motivation as well as the level of professional motivation of the students. In the research, the survey technique was used as a data collection tool. The convenience sampling method is used to determine the sample. The sample of the research is composed of 458 associate degree students studying healthcare services. The results obtained in the research are about the professional motivation of the students who are trained in the field of health. The research was carried out with quantitative techniques. In the research, only external and negative motivation factors are considered as factors affecting intrinsic motivation. SPSS 22 package program was used in the analysis of the data obtained. In the research, factor analysis, reliability analysis, descriptive statistics, T-test, correlation, and regression analyzes were performed. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the external motivation sources of the students positively affect their internal motivation. It has been concluded that negative motivation sources do not have a significant effect on internal motivation. Also, it was determined that students being a first or second grader and their gender caused significant differences in their level of professional motivation. In the literature, no empirical studies examining the causality relationship between the dimensions of the professional motivations of students studying in the field of healthcare have been found. The study differs from similar studies in terms of addiction and the results obtained.
